Two Day Digital Workshop Programme
Arrive between 4.00 and 6.00pm on the Friday, pre-dinner drink and presentation on the weekend ahead at 7.00pm, dinner at 8.00pm.
On both Saturday and Sunday, breakfast at 8.00am followed by a morning on location. Returning for Lunch at about 1.30pm. The afternoon will be spent working with the images taken in Photoshop CS2. Afternoon tea will be supplied.
End of day 5.00pm, although delegates can work on if they wish.
Dinner on Saturday and Sunday at 8.00pm.
Monday, after breakfast at 8.00am, delegates free to leave. Rooms should be vacated by 10.30am.
Course Content
Although taking place in some beautiful parts of Normandy, this is not a landscape or architectural photography course, but rather an insight into the creative world of Digital Photography. Delegates will be able to practice the skills learnt on any subject of interest on their return home.
Day 1 (Saturday) delegates will visit a medieval town to photograph both the architecture and surrounding areas (This is a charming location for partners to potter, and hit the credit card!!)
Day 2 (Sunday) will be spent photographing forest and lakes so typical to Normandy.
Photographic skills covered: Use of camera controls Use of tripod and additional lenses, filters etc (if appropriate) Fill-in flash Creative use of aperture and shutter speeds Exposure techniques File formats to use Resolution Colour Management Composition and framing photographs Using your ‘Eye’
Photoshop skills covered: Photoshop toolbox and palettes Image size and resolution Image modes Selection tools Editing tools Working in layers Working with type Colour correction Filters and effects Preparing for output
Equipment required: Delegates should have their own digital camera - preferably an SLR, though not essential. Tripod and cable release and additional lenses if owned. Flash gun Wellington boots, waterproofs and umbrella (hope these won’t be necessary, but better to be safe than sorry, we will be going out anyway!)
Equipment supplied: Pentium 4 Windows computers, 1 Gig RAM, with 17” flat screens and Photoshop CS2, Canon i990 A4 Photoprinters. Screens are colour calibrated with Pantone’s Spider for colour accuracy.
