Please join Fen and Ian for a relaxed and friendly weekend, sharing their typical, French cottage in peaceful and tranquil countryside in Southern Normandy. On arrival, you will be welcomed in French style, with a taster of Calvados, and then sit down to enjoy a candle lit dinner together, where Ian will discuss the course content, and give a short presentation preparing you for your weekend of photography and valuable workshop tuition. All meals will be enjoyed together, where everyone can informally discuss the day, and your hopes and aspirations of what you wish to achieve.
The cottage sits in approximately one acre of land, with a pond and well, and has fields on three sides. you will sleep peacefully, with no traffic noise. The only sound may be that of nature! There are two bedrooms for your accommodation, one is a double, and the other has 2 single beds, and there is one bathroom and one shower room both with fantastic water pressure for you to enjoy. The house is approximately 200 years old, and has exceptionally low beams upstairs. Ian and Fen have done what they can to make these softer to the head, but you will learn to duck, as your hosts cannot be responsible for injuries. The cottage is warm and comfortable, and Ian and Fen are friendly, hospitable and relaxed, and welcome guests into their home.
Ian is thoroughly passionate about his photography, and is continually praised for his patience in teaching. He is a practicing professional commercial and advertising photographer, and for many years taught City and Guilds 9231 Certificate in Photography, and City and Guilds 7470 General Photographic Practice courses. You can view some of his work at www.advertisingphotography.com Please feel free to use every opportunity you can, to ask him questions, share your concerns and indeed praise your own work, in order that you leave with great prints to take home, and the feeling that you have extended your photographic knowledge to the full. Hopefully you will recommend Ian to other budding photographers, or even wish to return in the future for more photography experiences and French living! You are most welcome to bring your partner or friend to enjoy the weekend (at a lesser cost if they are non photographers!). There are plenty of lovely shops to roam, whilst you are busy during one of the mornings, to purchase designer clothes, cheese, wine, Calvados and gifts. The other morning will be more rural, where a walk around the lake, and a trip into the forest may be on the cards .
Ian will take care of all your photographic needs during the course of your stay, and Fen will be tendering to your culinary and comfort requirements. please let them know if you have ANY special dietary needs or allergies. If the weather is favourable, they will endeavour to barbecue one evening, to allow you the appreciation of the peaceful garden, and thoroughly chill out from your day.
Ian and Fen look forward to meeting you, and they are confident that you will have a wonderful and memorable weekend. They hope that you will return home, with a greater enthusiasm and knowledge of photography, and perhaps even share their passion of life in France.
