We were sat on the rear patio the other evening, 32 degrees, and at about 8.00pm two combines arrived to cut the wheat field behind.
We have had lots of Hoopoes nesting around the house this year. These stunning little birds are part of the Kingfisher family and have a distinctive crown. This young one shown here has just found his breakfast.
Sunflowers in abundance. Probably about 20 acres of them in the field in front of the house. The farmers do rotate the crops annually, so not sure where they will be next year.
"Ian is one of those rare people who is not only a great photographer but is also extremely adept at passing his knowledge and skills on to other people in a way that is both informative and fun".
"Ian's long experience in the teaching field and his patience and understanding of his subject make learning a pleasure".
"Whatever the subject matter, Ian's ability as a photographer is only matched by his deservedly good reputation as a teacher"
"Hi Ian, Just a quick note to say thank you for the abundance of photography knowledge that I have gained with your help. I can never thank you enough for the insight into both the camera and the computer that I have gained through watching you, and learning to see a picture, capture it and then process it through the computer. You have that unique ability to make learning a pleasure, not a chore"
We have had numerous requests to run workshops for gite and chambre h'hote owners in the region.
We have now put together a series of one day courses covering all levels of expertise, from beginners to serious enthusiasts. You can see the content of the days by going to the Gite Owners button at the top of the page.
If any of these interest you, please drop us an email.

Join Ian and Fen for a relaxed and friendly experience, in the peaceful and tranquil countryside in South West France.
Having run the workshops successfully for a number of years in our previous house
in Normandy, we moved in 2013 to the Lot-
The house sits in approximately two acres of land, with a pond and well, and has fields on all sides, with a mixture of plum and apple orchards, wheat, maize and sunflowers, you will sleep peacefully, with little traffic noise. The only sound may be that of nature, and the occasional tractor!
Ian is thoroughly passionate about his photography, and is continually praised for his patience in teaching.
He is a practicing professional commercial and advertising photographer, and for many years taught City and Guilds 9231 Certificate in Photography, the 7470 General Photographic Practice course and BTEC in Photography and winner of the MPA regional Commercial Photographer of the Year. You can view some of his work at www.ijphoto.co.uk and www.advertisingphotography.co.uk.
Please feel free to use every opportunity you can, to ask him questions, share your concerns and indeed praise your own work, in order that you leave with great images to take home, and the feeling that you have extended your photographic knowledge to the full. Hopefully you will recommend Ian to other budding photographers, or even wish to return in the future for more photography experiences.
Ian and Fen look forward to meeting you, and we are confident that you will have a wonderful and memorable time with us. We hope that you will return home, with a greater enthusiasm and knowledge of photography.
Who needs Photoshop, when nature can produce colours like this all on its own!
